About Alun

I worked for 20 years in IT and software development. I have a love for technology and the theory behind how things work. I have always enjoyed Maths and its applications, which was the driver to study Physics and Electronic Engineering at University. I have first class degrees in both of the above subjects and a good track record of solving real problems at work.

About the lesson

I have been tutoring since early 2021 with a variety of students of different ages and backgrounds. I have taught from KS1 to KS5, with home-schooled children and those attending state school. My lessons for GCSE and A Level typically last an hour, though I can teach for longer if that is required. I usually like to work through practice questions so that students can learn by doing. I keep the lesson as interactive as possible and try to get the students to think creatively. I recognise that most of the time it will be a while before a concept becomes clear, so I'm happy to keep explaining things until the penny drops.

Alun has been teaching 3 of our children for several years now, and we have known him as a family friend for over 12 years. He is well able to teach maths, at all levels, and our children enjoyed and benefitted from his tuition. Alun will provide the expertise, the patience and the necessary know-how in order to make good progress. He has always been reliable, punctual, courteous & well prepared, and we would not hesitate to recommend him to be your or your child’s tutor.
