About Sophia
I'm Sophie. I hold a Master of Cyber Security from Swinburne University and have 2 years of professional IT experience. My background is pretty technical, which means math has always been a big part of what I do, whether it was at uni or in the workplace.
I got into tutoring because I genuinely remember what it felt like to be stuck on a problem with no idea where to start. Having someone sit with me and explain it patiently in a way that actually made sense changed everything. That's the experience I want to give my students.
I'm naturally patient and pretty easygoing. I'll never make you feel silly for not knowing something. If anything, I think the bravest thing a student can do is admit they're struggling and ask for help. I take my sessions seriously and always come prepared, but I also believe learning shouldn't feel like a punishment.
Outside of tutoring I'm a bit of a nerd. I'm always building something, staying across what's happening in tech, and learning new things myself. I think that curiosity makes me a better tutor because I never forget what it's like to be a beginner at something.

Physics is one of those subjects where you either get it or it feels like a completely different language. The good news is that most of the time when someone is struggling, it's not because they can't do it. It's because no one has taken the time to explain it in a way that connects to something real.
That's where I come in. I teach physics by linking everything back to the real world. Instead of jumping straight into formulas and equations, I start with what's actually happening. Why does the ball slow down? What's actually going on when a car brakes? Once that picture makes sense, the math behind it becomes way less intimidating.
I break every problem down step by step. If you're staring at a question and don't even know where to start, we'll work through it together until you've got a process you can repeat on your own. If one way of explaining something doesn't click, I'll try a different angle. There's no rushing and no pressure.
Sessions are typically one hour. I keep things casual and low pressure. You should feel comfortable telling me when something doesn't make sense because that's where the real learning happens.
I hold a Master of Cyber Security from Swinburne University and have 2 years of IT experience. My background is technical and math and physics heavy, so I'm not just teaching from a textbook. I've actually used this stuff.
I tutor VCE Physics and Years 7 to 10 science students. Whether you're prepping for SACs, trying to improve your ATAR, or just want physics to finally make sense, I'm happy to help.

I’ve known Sophia for a long time and have seen firsthand how passionate she is about teaching. She is the kind of tutor who tailors her approach to match how a student learns best. During our sessions, she always ensures every doubt is cleared before moving forward. She’s remarkably patient, clear, and professional. I recommend her without hesitation!
I knew Sophia from University and she helped me out with my advanced maths courses there. One of the best maths teachers I’ve had - really cleared up my concepts and made sure I practiced!
