About Ben
About Me Hi, I’m Ben Short, a passionate and experienced tutor with a background in mathematics and physics. I hold a degree in Math and Physics, and I’ve spent the past few years helping high school and college students develop a deep understanding of these subjects—especially when they seem tricky at first! As someone who truly enjoys teaching, I specialize in making difficult concepts easy to understand. I take pride in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing in confidence. Currently, I run online group tutoring sessions focused on Physics 11, where we work through real problems, learn together, and build a strong foundation for future science and engineering courses. I also draw from my own experience in higher education and test prep to teach problem-solving strategies that work—not just for school, but for life. When I’m not tutoring, I’m often reading about science, building educational tools, or spending time with my family. I'm here to help you not only succeed in Physics 11, but actually enjoy it. Let’s learn together!

Ben is a great teacher and tutor because he is able to take complex ideas and break them down for anyone to understand. I did not take calculus before doing engineering and Ben made sure I was prepared. He is super patient with students which is key when learning new subjects.
Ben was a great physics 11 & 12 tutor for me as he was very patient with me and really helped me by explaining a lot of complicated theories as well as demonstrating challenging examples in a understandable way. He was also very encouraging, easy to talk to, very responsive, and even took extra time to find practice worksheets for me! Highly recommend
Ben is a great tutor who tutored me in IB physics. He has a lot of patience guiding me through questions and explaining the complicated process in a comprehensible way. He has a passion for physics which is evident in the way he found helpful resources to practice my learning. He is easily accessible outside of tutoring time if I had any last minute questions before exams as well. Highly recommend him!
I was fortunate to have Ben as a pre-calculus and calculus tutor during 11th and 12th grade. He was a truly excellent tutor with profound teaching abilities. When I would ask him questions, even if I still struggled with a concept, he was always patient and explained anything I did not understand thoroughly. He was very encouraging and kind, and his grasp of mathematics is undeniable. I would recommend him to anyone needing some help with their high school math or physics classes.
After Ben successfully guided my older brother through various high school math and science courses, I was incredibly grateful when he did the same for me. His student-centered approach adapts to each learner’s needs, adjusting speed and style to match their strengths. I especially appreciated his ability to tackle problems from multiple angles and his willingness to engage with challenging material. Learning with Ben was both effective and enjoyable—I couldn’t recommend him more!
