I’m Matthew-John, a professional jazz pianist and jazz performance student based in Montreal. I play regularly at venues like Upstairs Jazz Bar, Barbossa, and Salon Badin, and I’ve worked with students of all ages and levels. I teach both traditional piano (reading, technique, classical pieces) and more modern, ear-based approaches focused on jazz, improvisation, and groove. I keep things clear, practical, and tailored to your goals — whether you’re just starting out, picking it back up, or looking to level up your playing. Hi, I’m Mat Jon — a working jazz pianist and university student based in Montreal. I perform regularly around the city (Upstairs, Barbossa, Badin) and teach students of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced players.
I offer both traditional piano lessons (reading music, technique, classical pieces) and creative, ear-based lessons focused on jazz, improvisation, and playing by feel.
