About Aliya
My name is Aliya! I am an undergraduate student at UNC Chapel Hill studying political science, with minors in women's and gender studies and religious studies. My academic basis in the humanities means that I do a TON of writing! I scored a 36 on the reading portion of the ACT, and I've won awards for my essays in college. I'm committed to offering an approach to tutoring that is flexible, but effective. I understand that not all students learn in the same ways -- it took me a while to understand what worked best for me! I look forward to helping students hone their reading and writing skills in ways that are engaging and constructive.

I'm here to help you improve your English skills, whether your goal is to do well on standardized tests, write better essays, or improve your reading comprehension! We'll work together to develop a mode of learning that works best for you and your goals. As someone who is neurodivergent, I understand how difficult it can be to sit through a class that doesn't meet your needs. That's why it's important to me to accommodate a range of learning styles, rather than offering a narrow, standardized approach. I am happy to provide you with feedback on existing assignments, or construct engaging lesson plans for you in areas you'd like to improve in. I would love to work with middle schoolers and high schoolers, but if you're just getting started in undergrad and need a little extra help, feel free to reach out as well!
