My teaching approach is to use an EATS lesson format. I “Engage” with students by using an “Activating” strategy (a hook) or to check background knowledge, make connections with what they already know and can do, and then teach new content using a “Teaching” strategy with guided practice. Then, my student or students will independently practice and review new skills and content. Finally, we will “Summarize” new information and I will ask Higher-order thinking questions so that we can apply what we have learned.
I have found this format/method to be the most efficient way for me to teach and for my students to learn.

Mrs. Kay is great! She makes reading fun! She chooses actives and reading material that interests and challenges my son while keeping him engaged in the topic at hand. Would very much recommend her to anyone needing a tutor.
