Professional illustrator, Fine Arts Graduate offering realistic drawing, painting and illustration lessons. From basic shapes to high quality drawings and paintings!

First lesson: draw a sphere. Easy, right? Apparently not. Mine looked like a potato. Tadeo somehow managed to turn a potato into a lesson about light, form, reflected light and edges. By the end I was looking at lamps and fruit differently. Slightly ridiculous, but very useful

I wanted my comic pages to have stronger blacks and more graphic shapes. We looked at ink, silhouettes, line weight and how to organise areas of light and dark. I came away with a much clearer idea of what I want my pages to look like. Also, Tadeo has a very nice way of giving criticism — direct but never discouraging

I hadn't seriously drawn anything since school, so I was pretty rusty. I wasn't looking to become a professional, I just wanted to see if I could get back into it. The first few drawings were honestly awful but Tadeo never made me feel uncomfortable about that. We worked through proportions, perspective and values at a pace that made sense for me. Now I actually keep a sketchbook beside my desk and draw most evenings, which I never expected

Hands were the reason I booked the class. I’d literally change a character’s pose to avoid drawing them. We spent a lot of time understanding the palm as a simple structure and then adding the fingers around it. Tadeo also showed me how perspective changes the shape dramatically. Still not perfect, but at least I don’t panic when a hand appears anymore

I’m usually a very messy drawer and wanted to learn how to make my lines more confident. We did some exercises with ink where you basically had to commit to the mark. No undo, no erasing. Horrifying at first but actually really useful. Tadeo also showed me how changing line weight can make a drawing feel much more three dimensional

I wanted to learn how to draw cars. Weirdly, the answer was basically ‘learn perspective properly.’ We spent a lot of time constructing boxes and ellipses before getting anywhere near the actual cars. At first I thought this was going to be painfully boring, but once I understood the perspective the vehicles became much easier. I’ve been filling pages with cars ever since

Colour theory was the thing I thought I knew until I actually had to use it. I was constantly choosing colours that looked nice individually but terrible together. We did a few limited palette exercises and looked at warm/cool relationships and saturation. My paintings already feel less muddy. I still mess it up sometimes obviously, but now I know WHY I’m messing it up

I had practically no drawing experience when I started. I expected to spend the first few lessons drawing cubes and spheres, but instead we used simple exercises to understand observation, proportion and form. Tadeo was extremely patient whenever I got confused and explained things in several different ways until they clicked. I particularly appreciate that the online lessons let me learn without feeling self-conscious in front of a whole classroom

I’ve been attending life-drawing sessions for years, but my figures always felt stiff. Tadeo noticed that I was concentrating too much on anatomy and not enough on movement. We spent the lesson working almost entirely on gesture, balance, rhythm and the line of action. It was a completely different way of looking at the figure.

Great teacher, very patient. I finally understand values and why my drawings were looking flat. The online format is also incredibly convenient

I was completely stuck with digital painting. My drawings were technically okay, but everything looked strangely plastic and over-rendered. Tadeo showed me how to simplify the values first and then use edges, temperature and selective detail to make the painting feel more natural. That one change made an enormous difference. I finally understand why adding more detail wasn’t actually making my paintings better.

I've attended many art workshops over the years, but Tadeo's classes stand out because of the quality of the critiques. I engaged in Tadeo's online drawing courses for approximately a year, and I must express that it was an incredible and transformative journey. Prior to enrolling in his classes, my grasp of anatomical principles was rather limited, and this deficiency was evident in my artistic creations. However, under his expert tutelage, I acquired a deep understanding of the structure and proportions inherent to the human form. Moreover, I acquired the skills necessary to integrate these insights into my artistic endeavors.
An aspect that I found particularly admirable about Tadeo's instructional approach was his unwavering patience and empathetic demeanor. Whenever I encountered difficulties in comprehending a particular concept, he invested the time to elucidate it using language that resonated with me. Additionally, he provided an array of supplementary materials and practical exercises, thereby fortifying our comprehension of the subjects covered during our sessions.
Nevertheless, the most precious outcome of Tadeo's instruction was the newfound self-assurance in my artistic capabilities. He fostered an environment in which we were encouraged to experiment and embrace artistic risks, ultimately facilitating the development of our distinct creative styles.
