About Penelope

Hi! I'm Penelope, a passionate Mandarin tutor with over 10 years of teaching experience and a Master's degree from The Australian National University (ANU).

Teaching Chinese is more than my profession—it's something I genuinely enjoy. I believe the best way to learn a language is through meaningful communication, not endless memorization.

Alongside teaching, I work as a Business Analyst in Australia's mining industry, collaborating with Chinese companies, translating corporate reports, and interpreting during business meetings. This gives me unique insight into both professional and everyday Chinese, allowing me to help students communicate naturally in real-life situations.

Whether you're learning for business, travel, university, or simply because you love the language, I'll tailor every lesson to your goals and help you become a confident Mandarin speaker.

Let's make learning Chinese practical, enjoyable, and rewarding together!

About the lesson

My lessons focus on real communication, the Chinese people actually speak every day.

You'll learn how to:

1. Speak naturally in everyday conversations
2. Communicate confidently in business settings
3. Improve pronunciation and fluency
4. Understand Chinese culture and social etiquette
5. Think in Chinese instead of translating word by word

Every lesson is personalized to your level, learning style, and goals. I use authentic materials, videos, role-play, and interactive exercises to make learning engaging and effective.

Whether you're preparing for work, traveling to China, or simply want to become fluent, I'll help you make steady progress while enjoying the learning process.

My mission is to help you speak Mandarin with confidence—not just study it.
