About William
I am a professional 3D artist with 10 years in the game industry. I have published 5 titles and have worked as a character artist and an environment artist, principally as a modeler and texture artist. I also taught Lighting and Texturing at a university level, teaching my students how to be comfortable with the software and to take their work to the next level.

Do you want to be a 3D artist? Unlike academic studies, school is beneficial but not essential for learning how to be a 3D artist. In fact, due to the size of classes in our universities and the dearth of teachers, many students will not get the attention they need to really grasp all the concepts being taught. Because not everybody learns at the same rate and with the same methods, this can cause some students to fall behind and get discouraged. In the age of YouTube and online schools, you can become a successful artist by carving your own path, so long as you stick to it diligently. Tutoring is an excellent way to ensure you are getting the most out of your studies and focus on the goals that are important for success. I am offering private tutoring for aspiring artists. Whether you are thinking about school, a current student, learning on your own, or just starting out in the industry; I can guide you through all of the fundamental skills you need to be successful. A little about me: I am a professional 3D designer and have worked in the video games industry for over 10 years. I have produced high-quality work for small start-ups as well as industry giants such as EA Games. I have over 3 years of teaching experience at Vancouver College of Art and Design and Think Tank Training Center. I am also a galleried traditional artist and am able to teach the fundamentals of drawing and design, which are bedrock to a successful 3D artist. I will guide you through the following skills: * Zbrush or Mudbox workflow * Anatomy sculpting * 3D modeling and UV layout in Maya * Texturing and material creation in Substance Painter * Importing your projects into Unity, Unreal, or Marmoset * Rigging characters for animation * Concept art and design If you are a current student attending classes, I can guide you as you complete your assignments, making sure you fully grasp the concepts being taught. I will help you excel in your work to stand out among your peers. If you are learning on your own, I can provide you with structured assignments to make sure you grasp the most important concepts step by step. And we can work together to build a set of strong skills to make you a marketable designer and a proficient artist.
