About Josh
I'm here for you. This is my fundamental philosophy for a room full of 20 students, and it's my philosophy on a Zoom call with a single person. Anyone can make the art they've always wanted - it just takes someone willing and patient to guide them. As for experience. I've been working in the games and entertainment industry for nearly 20 years. I've worked for big studios like Ubisoft and small studios like Us two. Currently, I teach two classes (Digital Painting, and Environment/background art) at The School of Visual Arts in New York City. On the side, I teach Procreate and Photoshop one-on-one and via workshops.

My lessons are built specifically for the student right in front of me, pulled from 75 hours of tried and true lessons I teach in my college classes. I'll start with a meet and greet where we discuss where you are now as an artist and where you want to go next. Likewise, we discuss how *you* learn more effectively. I've taught hundreds of students and I'm keenly aware that everyone learns differently. I want to maximize your chance to hear information in such a way that you get the fabled lightbulb moment.
All of my lessons are conducted with digital software, which is your choice (Photoshop, Clip Studio, Procreate, etc). Topics of learning include: drawing, perspective, composition, painting, illustration, style, concept art, environment art, intro to 3D, etc etc. I will craft the course around your needs!

Perfect! Josh is an excellent teacher. He was able to pivot quickly to my learning style made allowances for my lack of understanding and within several classes made me an Photoshop expert. I cannot praise him enough for his patience, knowledge and kindness, and sharing his knowledge- he is a truly excellent and gifted teacher.
Perfect! Josh is extremely patient. Very kind and always treats everyone with respect. He really cares and wants me to succeed. He is highly artistic and very knowledgeable in Photoshop and Illustrator. I came to him because I was failing my digital graphics class. On my last project I received an A! I couldn’t believe it! I am so very grateful to Josh. Without him, I would have failed this class, had to retake it, and my GPA would have suffered.
Perfect! Josh is wonderful to work with! As soon as he started our first lesson, I was confident about his mastery of Photoshop. He was organized and prepared to teach me the basics, as well as the specific things that I want to become skilled in for my business. He’s patient, very creative, and generous with his knowledge, and I’m so appreciative to have the opportunity to work with him.
- Had a great time with Lisa! She's very interactive and inquisitive, very open to discussions throughout the process. Has that real thirst for knowledge coupled with the work ethic to put it to use. It shows too: her works looks fantastic too. Look forward to working with her again!Josh's response :
