About Damian
My name is Damian Kortus, an English for New Media major who has recently graduated from Dakota State University. My time at DSU's English program taught me a great deal about writing and editing, especially in an academic setting. However, my greatest opportunity was with DSU's Writing Center. Here, I spent over two years teaching students how to improve their writing by reviewing assignments and providing tips along the way. I am a passionate writer with an eye for detail. I can provide any student with the knowledge they need to succeed, but my priority is to make sure students are learning comfortably with a tutor that respects them and their needs.

My primary goal is to help students improve their writing by providing them with knowledge and tools they can use in the long-term. Whether a student is brainstorming an essay, putting together a resume, or just needs an assignment to be proofread, I can review present writing and prepare students for future writing. Knowing how to write for teachers and employers is important in any level or focus of education. I have over two years of experience helping a variety of students with academic writing, so I am prepared for anything a teacher or professor has prepared.
The structure of my lessons will depend on what the student needs. Providing ideas and ways to generate more ideas will be the focus of a brainstorming session, while reviewing an assignment and providing advice is important for those that want to develop their grammar or structure. I am flexible in my style of teaching, and I want to do what is best for each individual student.
