I've been attending Hong's Yang style, 8 form Tai Chi classes for about 6 months now.

I'm 69 and it's not easy and takes a lot of concentration. It's good for joints, coordination, mental acuity as well as socialization. I'd recommend it anytime.

The thing is, as I said, it's not easy and you need someone who really knows what they are doing to show you what to do.

Hong is that person.

Her classes are not rushed, and yes they may seem a little repetitive but that repetition is the key to success. Hong regularly reminds her students to practice at home, every day. She points out flaws and commendations to individuals when students attend the weekly session.

Hong doesn't expect her students to be perfect. It's a rolling program so that just wouldn't work. Her patience is perfect for the style of class.

I joined Hongs yoga classes 18 months ago and have found a love for yoga. The classes improve fitness, flexibility, strength and balance as well as mindfulness through breathing techniques and relaxation.
Hong is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor who adapts levels for beginners to experienced. Classes are friendly and relaxed.

I started at Abergele leisure centre to get fit and flexible. I was very lucky to have met Hong for yoga. I suffer from chronic pain, sciatica, arthritis, and stiff joints. I have found since joining Hong's class I can manage my pain and have a better mindset as well as getting back my flexibility.

I attended Hong's yoga classes. She is a wonderful instructor and is flexible in her approach. Hong delivers a non-competitive class suited for everyone. Hong is very talented and has a lovely, calm, and warm manner. I look forward to my weekly classes.

Hong has been a knowledgeable and patient Tai Chi instructor. She demonstrates and explains the postures, and she helps with fine tuning each movement. She even provides videos to reinforce learning when needed. I highly recommend her.

As a complete novice, I wasn't sure what to expect. However Hong immediately put me at ease. She patiently goes through the movements and explains their origin in traditional Chinese medicine.

Hong is an excellent trainer/teacher of both yoga and Taichi.
She teach both Vibyasa and yin yoga, whenever I get an opportunity I attend her classes along with my wife.
The classes start and finish on time, varied and complete for body and mind . You have an opportunity to attend the following class if you are time constrained.
She does do longer special sessions over weekends from time to time.

For months, I suffered from neck pain. After just one yoga class with Hong, my pain eased significantly, and I regained movement. I highly recommend Hong's classes to anyone experiencing similar issues.

I have been practicing Tai Chi for 22 years, and with various instructors. I have attended Hong's classes for 6 years. Hong is up there with the best. Her movements are so easy to follow. She progresses through each stage at a pace that allows her students to remember the earlier stages, giving confidence to the students. I was a technology teacher for 36 years, i believe I can spot a competent instructor. I have no hesitation in recommending her.

I've attended several yoga classes over the last 2 years, and by far Hong's are the some of the best. The classes are varied in content, structured, but most importantly welcoming and warm.

Hong is supportive and reinforces the importance of listening to your own body and its limits in practice. She is thoughtful and takes a keen interest in helping students develop their practice, but in them as people, building a genuine rapport with each member of her class.

Attending a new class can be a daunting thought, but it need not be - Hong welcomes all students, regardless of ability and experience, with a warm smile. I would highly recommend Hong for those new to yoga practice and more advanced students.

Hong is an excellent tutor, her classess are well run and there is a good variety of styles of yoga offered. I have been attending her class regularly and my strength and fitness have improved greatly during this time. There is always a friendly atmosphere and warm welcome.

Hong teaches proper Chinese taichi,and she is very knowledgeable and patient.I enjoy learning Taichi from her.

I contacted Hong after my GP recommended that I should try Tai Chi. As I couldn’t travel easily we started with virtual lessons through messenger. Hong set me different exercises every week. I have seen a lot of improvement and enjoy practicing. I have finally met Hong this week in person and attended one of the classes. I would definitely recommend Hong to anybody.

I’m Julia Culshaw and I’m a retired English college lecturer. I have been attending Hong’s vinyasa and hatha yoga classes at Abergele Leisure centre for over a year now.
She is an excellent tutor and always demonstrates the exercise clearly and explains which muscle group we are working and why. She always focuses on breathing alongside and we do meditation and relaxation at the end of the class . She is always professional yet friendly and welcoming . I would have no hesitation in recommending her yoga classes to all abilities and ages .

I decided to study Tai chi with Hong, as she had lived and learned Tai chi to a high standard in China. My learning experience with Hong has been excellent, with plenty of patience and a good sense of humour complimenting the learning experience, and making the learning process a highly enjoyable occasion.

I started Tai Chi with Hong as a complete beginner 6 months ago. I have learned so much from her as her dedication and passion for Tai Chi is very evident. She gives very clear instructions and demonstrations to ensure that every move is carried out correctly. She is very patient and is always ready to answer any questions, and her classes are always very relaxing and enjoyable.

I first met Hong when I was a complete yoga novice in one of her classes. She was very welcoming and made sure that everybody's needs were catered for. Hong is a wonderful, very experienced teacher, providing a friendly and calm environment for her students. My husband and I also attended Hong's online yoga sessions, which were also extremely beneficial when we were unable to attend in person.

I’ve been learning Tai chi with Hong for about a year, she is a great teacher and is very patient with us all.
She teaches us authentic Tai chi, and pays a lot of attention to detail. She is very encouraging and her lessons are very enjoyable.

It is not an exaggeration to say that Hong's lessons have truly changed my life. I have a musculoskeletal condition (osteogenesis imperfecta) which means I am prone to broken bones, dislocations and general aches and pains. Hong tailors my warm-ups and practice to strengthen parts of my body that are causing me problems at any particular time. For example she was able to really speed up recovery from a very painful dislocated shoulder by incorporating qigong exercises to strengthen that area.

I am currently learning 24 form. Hong breaks down each component so minutely and corrects any mistakes I make to ensure I am practicing the form correctly. I have found the breathing and meditation elements extremely calming, enabling me to sleep well at night whilst having more energy and focus of a day time. I am feeling so much healthier and stronger thanks to this wonderful lady.

I have had Qigong and Tai Chi lessons from Hong in Denbigh during 2022, and I am now getting Tai Chi lessons from Hong in Kinmel Bay. She is a great tutor, encouraging students at all levels. She ensures adequate warm up, and warm down at the end. She focuses on one or two forms per lesson, working through all 24 steps over time.

Hong always arrives to teach her Tai Chi lessons full of enthusiasm and fun. Takes extra time to explain and show any detail of any movement that we might find difficult. Hong always checks that I hear her well as I have a hearing impairment. All in all Hong is a great teacher and her enthusiasm passes onto us to help develop our Tai Chi skills. Hong teaches that tai chi is much more than simply moving your body through a set of poses.
The attention to the small details and explanations of the reason for these adjustments make understanding clear.
With patience and pacing the class to allow the participation at all abilities makes for a welcoming and relaxing session in which you know you have worked and exercised well.

I broke my shoulder, damaged a muscle and could barely move my shoulder but with Hong’s help i can not only move my shoulder better but i have a lot less pain. I would recommend tai chi to everyone with health problems. Hong is an amazing patient and supportive person who has helped me so much. Can’t thank her enough!

Hello everyone. I have been doing Tai Chi with Hong for a couple of months now. I got to know her through my mother (who is also a student of Hong, but on a different day), who let me know that there was going to be a class starting in my town. I have not missed a single class. Hong is a very patient teacher, who explains what we are doing in both the Tai Chi and the Qi Gong exercises that we do each class.
I have found that the classes are good for me, as it is a form of exercise that lets you move without making injuries that you may have worse (it's great for the back incidentally, which helps me as I had a work related back injury two years ago). I have also found that it allows you to develop total control over your body, as well as increasing strength and stamina. Aside from that, it is very meditative, and you can clear your mind with the Yang style of Tai Chi, as you are concentrating on only the one thing at a time, so that you can empty your mind of everything unimportant, get rid of your stresses, and just be (leave your mobile phone behind. If it is actually important they will call you back. If they don't, then it obviously wasn't important to begin with). And do it for long enough? You might just find there are other benefits other than physical as well.

I am in a TaiChi class which is run by Hong. She is a lovely person and is very patient with all class members taking us through the moves slowly and gently. She also explains what the moves are called; what they represent and the importance of ensuring we maintain our strength and posture as we get older.

I am delighted to share what an amazing instructor I have for Tai Chi - Hong! We are quite far away and Hong generously created a time that worked perfectly for us. She is incredibly knowledgeable and her instructions are clear and tapered to our beginning level. After class she sends us a video to practice when needed which is quite helpful.
