About Jenny
I hold a first-class degree in Chinese Language and Literature.
I also completed my PGCE in Mandarin at UCL and I am a UK qualified teacher with DBS check.
I am a highly experienced Mandarin teacher with 15 years of full-time teaching in grammar and private schools in the UK, 3 years in China. I am well-versed in the GCSE (AQA and iGCSE), A-level, and IB Mandarin curricula. I am also appointed as a CIE A Level Chinese examiner in 2026 and 2027.
I teach adults the HSK course, and most of my students achieve HSK2 within a year with just one lesson per week. Some even reach HSK3 with intensive training.
I am also passionate about creating/finding teaching resources tailored to students' levels. I have designed my own materials to help students quickly acquire exam techniques, and they have found these resources very helpful for daily conversation as well.

I believe that engaging and encouraging are the essential aspects of the teaching, which help the learners develop their own personal interests in the subject.
My goal in teaching Mandarin is for students to enjoy language learning and make Mandarin learning become a life-long skill, rather than only an academic achievement.
Meanwhile, as my own personality is enthusiastic, passionate, and lively, I intend to create a fun learning environment rather than strict teaching.
As my strong Mandarin teaching academic background and work experiences, I also believe that there are various and flexible ways for language learning, it all depends on the difference of the learners, therefore all my lessons are learners-centred, all based on their own levels.
During the lockdown, my online teaching skills have developed significantly. I am very confident in using various of online learning tools, such as Google Classroom, Jamboard, Quizlet, Kahoot etc. to make online lessons fun and effective. I guarantee you a great learning experience no matter where you are in the world. I look forward to hearing from you!

I really enjoy my lessons with Jenny!Perfect! Jenny is working with my son who is revising for his Mandarin A-level exams. He thinks she is an excellent tutor who offers him high-quality exam orientated feedback with great advice and analysis and helps him to draft answers and practice for the speaking and writing components of the exam. Perfect! Jenny took the time to properly evaluate my level (reading, spoken, comprehension) and then tailored each lesson accordingly. My daughter has only had a few lessons with Jenny, and already I can see a huge improvement in her confidence when Speaking Chinese. I have every confidence my daughter will reach her full potential and achieve a good A-level grade, due to Jenny’s thorough and friendly tutoring.
I used Jenny as a mandarin tutor for my son. She knew the curriculum well and helped my son improve in a short period of time. We are very grateful for that.
