About Joanne
I’m a creative and curious person who genuinely enjoys helping others learn and grow. I’ve done some tutoring for students preparing for their GCSEs and resits, and I’ve found that I really enjoy the one-to-one setting — it allows me to focus fully on each learner and help them build skills and confidence at their own pace. Outside of teaching, I love to draw and I’m currently working as an illustrator on a children’s book written by a friend. I’ve also started teaching myself the violin and piano, which has given me a real appreciation for the learning process from a student’s point of view. In my free time, I enjoy hiking and being outdoors — it helps keep me balanced and inspired. Tutoring is something I want to explore more deeply, not just as an extension of my teaching experience, but as a new and rewarding way to connect with learners.

About My Lessons My maths lessons are tailored to suit the individual needs and learning styles of each student. With a strong background in SEND and four years’ experience as a maths teacher, I create a calm, structured environment where learners feel safe, supported, and motivated to succeed. Lessons typically include: A clear, step-by-step breakdown of key mathematical concepts Practical examples and real-life applications to build understanding Regular check-ins to ensure confidence and clarity before moving on A focus on building foundational skills, as well as preparation for exams where needed Encouragement and positive reinforcement to support progress For learners with additional needs, I adapt my approach to ensure lessons are accessible, engaging, and paced appropriately. Whether your goal is to catch up, keep up, or excel, each session is designed to move the learner forward at a comfortable, sustainable pace. I offer both in-person and online sessions, with flexible scheduling to accommodate your routine
