  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

Spanish is my native language. I grew up in Venezuela, surrounded by Spanish at home, at school and in everyday life. My connection with the language comes naturally from my roots, but my passion for teaching it developed later through my own experience learning other languages and discovering how rewarding it can be to communicate with people from different cultures.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

For me, Gabriel García Márquez is an emblematic representative of Spanish speaking culture. His writing beautifully reflects the richness, imagination and diversity of the Spanish language and Latin American culture.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

I particularly like the expression “¡Qué chévere!”, which is very common in Venezuela and means something like “How great!” or “How cool!” I love how expressions like this show that Spanish is not just a language, but also a reflection of each country’s culture and personality.
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Spanish is an important part of who I am and my connection to my culture, family and roots. I also love that Spanish allows people from so many different countries to connect with one another. As a teacher, I enjoy helping students discover that language is much more than grammar and vocabulary it is a way of understanding people and cultures.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

For many students, Spanish grammar and especially verb conjugations can be challenging. But I believe the biggest mistake is trying to learn everything through grammar rules and memorization.
The best way to learn is to start using the language from the beginning. Conversation, repetition, real-life situations, games and interactive activities help students understand the language naturally and, most importantly, gain confidence when speaking.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

One thing I remember from my school years is how much easier it was to remember something when it was connected to a story, a game or a real-life situation rather than simply memorizing it. That experience has influenced the way I teach today. I try to create lessons where students actively use what they are learning and associate Spanish with something meaningful and enjoyable.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Growing up in Venezuela and later living and traveling in different countries has made me appreciate how diverse Spanish really is. Every Spanish speaking country has its own expressions, accents and cultural references.
Living abroad has also given me the experience of being a language learner myself. It has helped me understand what it feels like when you know the grammar but still feel nervous about speaking. That perspective is very valuable when teaching my own students.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

I think what makes me a Superprof is the combination of being a native Spanish speaker, having professional training in teaching Spanish as a foreign language, and genuinely enjoying working with people.

I teach both children and adults, and I adapt my lessons to each student’s level, personality and goals. My approach is communicative and practical: I want students to speak as much as possible, using real-life situations, conversation, games and interactive activities rather than spending the entire lesson on grammar.

For me, teaching Spanish is not simply about teaching a language. It is about helping someone feel comfortable enough to use it. Seeing a student go from “I understand Spanish but I can’t speak it” to actually having a conversation with confidence is what makes teaching so rewarding for me.
