About Emma
I’m an experienced Law and Criminology tutor with a background in both education and industry. I’ve spent over 10 years teaching in secondary, further and higher education, alongside more than 20 years in professional roles where analytical thinking and real-world application really matter.
I’ve worked with a wide range of students — from those aiming for top grades to those who feel completely stuck — and I understand that confidence is often just as important as content. Law and Criminology can feel overwhelming, particularly when it comes to applying theory, using case law, or structuring longer answers, so I focus on making things clear, logical and manageable.
My approach is calm, supportive and straightforward. I don’t overcomplicate things, and I won’t expect students to “just get it” — I’ll explain it properly, break it down, and build it back up until it clicks.
I genuinely enjoy helping students make progress and seeing that shift from confusion to confidence. That’s usually the moment things start to fall into place.

I take a structured, exam-focused approach to tutoring Law and Criminology, supporting students from GCSE through to undergraduate level. With a background in both education and industry, I focus not just on understanding the content, but on how to apply it effectively in assessments.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes and tailored to the individual. I begin by identifying gaps in knowledge or exam technique, then build sessions around clear explanation, case application, and exam-style practice. A strong emphasis is placed on how to structure answers, use legal terminology accurately, and develop analysis — particularly for extended responses and coursework.
I have extensive experience teaching WJEC Criminology and Applied Law, so I understand the demands of the specification, assessment criteria, and where students tend to lose marks. Sessions are designed to build confidence as well as competence, breaking down complex legal concepts into something far more manageable.
I work with a range of learners, including those aiming for top grades and those who may be struggling and need a more supportive, step-by-step approach. The aim is always the same: clearer understanding, stronger exam performance, and less stress around the subject.
