About Rayn
I have four years of teaching assistant experience in physics and mathematics at elite liberal arts schools such as Reed College and Grinnell College. I will also be mentoring students in research courses in quantum computing at St. Olaf College in the spring, continuing in to a research project at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
On a more personal note: I grew up with no formal training whatsoever in physics or mathematics, so I know how hard it can be to overcome the challenge of learning these subjects. This experience is reflected in my tutoring style: working at the student’s pace, developing skills of an independent learner, and zero judgement about what you know or don’t know.

My goal is to help you develop a deeper understanding of the subject matter rather than just test prep (although I can help with that too!) My sessions are interactive: we solve problems together, and you will develop the often neglected skill of articulating your thought process as you work through a solution. Developing the ability to explain your reasoning is crucial to develop an intuitive understanding of math and physics, and becoming familiar with this process makes the subject matter far richer than test prep.
