About Rayyan
A little about me: I'm a senior mechanical engineering student at Stony Brook University, where I use math and physics every day, from calculus and differential equations to statics, dynamics, and thermodynamics.
Outside the classroom, I've worked as a STEM instructor with Lavner Education, teaching classes of 15+ students at camps hosted at NYU, Cathedral, and NYIT. There I learned to break down complex topics, keep students engaged, and adjust my explanations to each student's level. I've also worked as a mechanical engineering intern at a clean energy company and currently work on engineering projects with an AI research fellowship, so I can show students how the math and physics they're learning are used in real careers.
I take tutoring seriously. I come to every lesson prepared, I'm punctual and reliable, and I give honest, encouraging feedback so students and parents always know where things stand. Most of all, I'm patient. I believe every student can succeed with the right guidance and enough practice, and I'll work with you until the material truly makes sense.

My teaching method:
All my lessons are online and built around interactive problem-solving. Instead of lecturing, I work through problems with you, ask guiding questions, and let you take the lead as your confidence grows. I break hard topics into small, manageable steps and connect them to real-world examples from engineering, like the physics of a bridge or the calculus behind a moving car. I'm a firm believer that practice makes perfect, so every lesson ends with you solving problems on your own while I'm there to guide you.
A typical lesson:
Check-in (5–10 min): We go over homework, upcoming tests, or anything that's been confusing.
Concept walkthrough (15–20 min): I explain the new topic step by step, with visuals and examples.
Guided practice (20 min): We solve problems together, and I gradually step back as you take over.
Independent practice and recap (10 min): You try a few on your own, we review mistakes, and I send practice problems for the week.
What sets me apart:
