Russian (native, born in the USSR) teacher offers ON-LINE lessons of Russian to teenagers and adults. Some historical retrospect is also possible as the tutor was educated as a school history teacher

I feel very fortunate to have found Alexander on Superprof, especially when the choice of tutors was so overwhelming. Alexander’s extensive knowledge of the Russian language, history, and culture has brought a depth to my learning that I hadn’t expected. I found learning languages at school very dry, but Alexander’s teaching style breathes life into the subject. In the year since he began teaching me, I have grown in confidence and developed a deep appreciation for the beauty and complexity of the Russian language.
I am not a natural linguist or academic, but Alexander is a very patient and encouraging teacher who tailors each lesson to my ability and interests. As well as being a great teacher, he is also a kind person, and I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in learning Russian, regardless of age or ability. I look forward to continuing my education with Alexander for many years to come. Thank you Alexander!

Alex is a fantastic Russian tutor. I really appreciate how he brings the language to life in his teaching; he does this not just through his thorough understanding of how the language is constructed (and a wealth of experience teaching it), but also through personal touches like discussions of how history informed its development, or what certain linguistic constructions say about the “spirit” of Russian culture, or even things as simple as the mechanics of catching a bus in his home town (which is extremely foreign to a British person like me!). His style is especially good for people who are interested in learning Russian as a cultural ans well as a linguistic exercise, but I strongly recommend him to anyone, regardless of what draws them to this fascinating language and culture.

Alexander is an exceptional Russian teacher. His conversational teaching style creates a relaxed and engaging atmosphere, with lessons full of jokes, stories, and cultural references. He makes learning Russian genuinely enjoyable, while always keeping the lessons productive and tailored to my level. I have been having lessons with Alexander for nine months now and have made great progress. I hope to continue learning with him for a long time to come! Большое спасибо, Александр!

Alexander is a great tutor. He tailors his lessons according to my personal needs. His knowledge of the Russian language is exceptional and in his lessons he pays equal attention to corrections grammatical errors, extending my vocabulary and correcting pronunciation. His well-rounded approach ensures both that my language improves on all fronts and that the lessons remain fresh and interesting.

I have studied with Alexander for a few years now and have found him to be knowledgeable, enthusiastic and interesting. He has an excellent command of grammar, which he can explain with useful examples, corrects grammatical and pronunciation mistakes without fail, and can explain the differences between Russian and English phrasing across a wide range of subjects. He is an excellent teacher whom I highly recommend.

Alexander has been my Russian teacher for the past six months. I have really enjoyed my lessons and I feel that I have made really good progress in that time.
I am a language teacher and can be quite fussy as a learner, but I have really enjoyed the variety of activities, focusing on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Alexander has also brought literature (Chekhov) into the lesson as well as many historical anecdotes, two areas I am very interested in. It makes for some very interesting lessons.
Alexander is calm, patient and explains clearly, I can recommend his lessons without hesitation.

Alex is an amazing tutor, he is not only very knowledgeable with teaching methods that made my experience so interesting but also has a great personality. Thanks to Alex I have been able to develop and achieve an excellent level in a short time. I highly recommend Alex!

Alexander has been tutoring my son in Russian for almost a year and is always well-prepared for lessons. He engages my son with a variety of activities: reading, writing, songs, discussion, etc. This helps keep the lessons fresh and not boring. Alexander has a very kind and patient manner with my son, who was 7 when we began lessons, and a bit shy. However, the online format has worked well and my son is showing improvement in Russian thanks to these lessons. We highly recommend Alexander!

I have worked with Alexander for several years and have had an incredible experience as I continue to improve my Russian. He has a creative approach to teaching employing photos, video, reading passages along with traditional language textbooks. His kind and patient manner put students at ease which encourages engagement. During our classes, Alexander and I have also conversed a bit about Russian history, literature, and current events; discussions which not only aid in understanding the entomology of the language but also expose me to a world rich with culture which I might not be exposed to in a traditional language classroom setting.

Alexander is an absolutely fantastic tutor, he's highly attentive when teaching his students the Russian Lesson, and he also gives tips and corrections whenever his student is speaking. Over the past years, Alexander has helped me tremendously improve my Russian language skills, and I thank him for this beautiful gift of knowing the Russian language every day.

We always have interesting conversations about many topics that help me expand my Russian vocabulary and I feel like I've gotten a good grasp of the language over the years with his help. It's very rewarding to learn another language and learn about Russian culture, history, and society as well. He is a great teacher and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to learn Russian!

Alexandr Bychkov has been my Russian conversation for about nine months. He is highly professional and is able to pinpoint my strong and weak areas, and adapt quickly to my particular learning needs. He is friendly and encouraging and I look forward to our weekly conversations in which beyond a rich linguistic input, he shares my interests and also gives generously of himself. I have no hesitation in recommending Alexandr highly.

Alexander has been my teacher for a number of months now and I have always enjoyed my lessons with him. As I am trying to improve my Russian speaking skills, our lessons focus on having conversations and discussing grammar points, both of which Alexander has been able to help me with a lot. He is able to explain grammar points very clearly, providing examples and giving me relevant vocabulary too to go along with the variety of topics we discuss.

I would also add that the lessons are always very positive, entertaining and engaging, which is another reason I have enjoyed learning from and with Alexander so much. Russian is not an easy language to learn but Alexander is very encouraging and with his help, I feel I’m gaining confidence and making progress.
I would recommend Alexander to anyone wanting to learn, improve or gain confidence with their Russian!
