About Ivan
What sets high-achieving students apart on the SAT/ACT and in the college admissions process? It’s not just work ethic, and it’s not about being “naturally smart.” The real difference is having someone who can meet them exactly where they are and give them the tools, strategies, and confidence to succeed. As a USC & UCLA graduate in aerospace engineering, and as a tutor with 4+ years of experience helping students raise test scores, grades, and confidence, I know how to break down the hardest material into something clear and intuitive. Teachers and test prep books often present content in a one-size-fits-all way. But every student learns differently, especially when tackling the high-pressure world of standardized testing and college prep. My approach is simple: I tailor lessons to how each student thinks, turning test-taking into a skill set they can actually master. Whether you’re aiming for a higher SAT/ACT score, preparing for AP exams, or working on college application essays, I’ll help you connect the dots and take the stress out of the process.

I’ve built my tutoring around one core mission: disproving the myth that only “naturally smart” students succeed. Standardized tests are coachable. College essays can be structured into compelling stories. With the right support, every student can thrive. Here’s what I offer in SAT/ACT & college prep:
* SAT/ACT + Subject Test Mastery – pacing strategies, common traps, data analysis, and algebra-to-trig refreshers.
* Reading & Writing for the SAT/ACT – skimming efficiently, evidence-based reading, grammar mastery, and essay prep.
* College Essay Coaching – from brainstorming to polished final drafts, especially for STEM-focused applicants.
* Study Skills & Test-Day Strategy – time management, confidence building, and simulation under real test conditions.
I create personalized study plans based on diagnostic results and student goals. Every session is structured, goal-driven, and ends with targeted practice to reinforce what we cover.
If you’re ready to raise scores, strengthen applications, and feel confident about the next step, please reach out. I’d be happy to talk about how we can get there together!

Ivan worked with my son to get ready for AP calculus. Ivan was prepared, thorough, patient, and very effective as a tutor. He worked to insure my son’s needs were met. I highly recommend him.
Ivan taught my son while he was in middle school on things he needed help on. Not only was Ivan always on time, he is always very professional. He would also hold my son to be accountable, to be reliable and communicate with Ivan if the time & date needed to be changed. Ivan still will check in to see if any of my kids need help from time to time. I highly recommend Ivan!
Ivan tutors my son math and writing and he is very patient, professional, and responsible. He is personable and my son really enjoy lessons with him. I recommend him to my friends and they like him too. Very great teacher! Definitely recommend.
Ivan is super patient, kind and smart! I recommend this person because he knows how to speak to people in a beneficial and motivating way.
Ivan is super kind and knowledgeable about Physics. He explains things in a very coherent and easy to understand manner. He also always makes sure to reexplain and check in on your understanding. He is super professional but also very warm and understanding.
