About Evelyn

Hi, I’m Evelyn! With years of experience teaching both IB Chinese and English, I specialize in guiding kids aged 6 to 13 on their Mandarin learning journey—all through the comfort of bilingual instruction. Fluent in both Chinese and English, I know how to bridge language gaps to make learning feel easy and fun for young learners. Whether your child is just starting with Pinyin or ready to build conversational skills, I tailor lessons to their age and level: using colorful visuals, interactive games, and relatable daily scenarios (like talking about their favorite toys or school activities) to keep them engaged. For kids in this age group, I focus on fostering confidence first—encouraging them to speak up, ask questions, and practice without fear of mistakes. My background in IB curricula also helps me infuse structure into lessons, ensuring they build strong foundations in vocabulary, pronunciation, and basic grammar, while keeping things light with songs, stories, and role-plays. Learning Mandarin as a kid should feel like an adventure, not a chore—and I’m here to make that happen, one happy lesson at a time!

Bilingual Mandarin Course for Kids (Ages 6-13) Designed specifically for children aged 6 to 13, our bilingual Mandarin course makes learning Chinese engaging, effective, and fun—using both English and Mandarin to bridge understanding and build confidence. We start with foundational skills: kids will learn correct pronunciation of Pinyin, essential vocabulary (like greetings, food, and family terms), and basic sentence structures. Through interactive games, colorful flashcards, and short dialogues, we make memorization feel like play. For example, when learning words for "fruits," we’ll use real examples (or pictures) to link "苹果 (píngguǒ)" with "apple," helping kids connect the Mandarin term to something familiar in their daily lives. Speaking practice is key! We guide children to speak Mandarin clearly and confidently, starting with simple phrases ("我叫… (Wǒ jiào… / My name is…)") and gradually moving to short stories or role-plays (like ordering food in a café or talking about their favorite hobbies). Our teachers use English to explain tricky sounds or grammar points when needed—for instance, clarifying the difference between "他 (tā / he)" and "她 (tā / she)" by linking them to English pronouns, then reinforcing with practice sentences. We also weave daily life into lessons to make learning practical. Kids will explore scenarios they encounter every day: talking about their school day, describing their weekend, or asking for help. These real-life examples help them see how Mandarin applies to their world, making it easier to remember and use. With a focus on building both listening and speaking skills, our course balances structure and creativity. Whether your child is a complete beginner or already knows some Mandarin, we adapt to their level, ensuring they progress at a pace that keeps them motivated. By the end, they’ll not only understand and use basic Mandarin in daily situations but also gain a love for the language—all while feeling supported by our friendly, bilingual instructors. Let’s make learning Mandarin a joyful journey for your child!
