About Terrence
Hi, I'm Terrence. I have recently graduated from Imperial College London with first-class honour. I have been tutoring for 5+ years, and I was an Academic Scholar and the Vice Head Prefect at high school, I love helping my peers and juniors when they have problems with their school work. During my uni time, I have Co-founded an education consultancy which provides university application advice to students.
I regularly apply my skills to create innovative solutions and directly impact society. In the 2018 IC Hack, I led a team of five and came first place with a computer vision Android application. We applied computer vision to recognise different “Mah Jong” characters which educate new players its complex scoring system. The realisation of the importance of teamwork has allowed me to thrive in university projects since then, and the perseverance built upon this hackathon led to the won second prize in the Global Sustainability Hackathon 2019 at Deutsche Bank where I created “Green Wallet”, an iOS application that tracks spending behaviour and rewards based on sustainability.

With Computing, I believe it is extremely important to have a teacher who can enable their pupil to relate to the subject and provide clear explanations set at the right pace. In my lessons, I often use techniques such as holding interesting and memorable discussions with my pupils while bringing in real-world examples to help them understand, remember and see the relevance in each topic.
I also think that a positive attitude, encouragement and an understanding of the pupil's learning style is key to engaging them with the subject and generating natural interest and understanding. I have found that this approach helps pupils quickly build confidence, improve motivation, grasp concepts, and to realise their potential - all key to exam success.
