About Kazumi
Hi, I'm Kazumi, a native Japanese speaker from Kanagawa, Japan.
My teaching style is simple: patient, encouraging, and built around you. Every student learns differently, so I pay close attention to how you respond. I notice when something clicks and when it needs another explanation, and I adjust my approach in the moment. If one explanation doesn't work, I'll find another way, with a new example, a demonstration, or a comparison to English that makes it clear.
I believe the best way to learn is to use Japanese right away. My lessons focus on real conversation and practical phrases, so you start speaking from the very first lesson, not just memorizing rules. Mistakes are always welcome, because they show me exactly where to help and they build your confidence faster.
I'm also very organized. I'm always on time and prepared, and after every session I send a short summary. I create custom handouts and quizzes so you can keep practicing between lessons. When you want to go deeper, I'll share extra resources on the topics that interest you most.
Most of all, I want learning Japanese to be something you look forward to. My goal is for you to leave every session understanding more, speaking more, and excited for the next one.

HOW LESSONS WORK
1. Free 30-minute first lesson: We talk about your goals, check your current level, and create a plan built around what you want to achieve.
2. Every lesson: We start with a relaxed warm-up conversation, work on one focused topic (grammar, vocabulary, or real phrases from anime and travel), then practice speaking and listening so it sticks.
WHAT YOU'LL GAIN
- Natural expressions that native speakers actually use, beyond the textbook
- Clear explanations of tricky topics like particles, verb forms, and polite speech
- The cultural context behind the language, so you understand not just what to say but why
- Steady progress you can see and hear from lesson to lesson
Lessons are available online or in person. We start in English and gradually use more Japanese as your skills grow.

Kazumi is an exceptional person, who has built the foundation of who she is on respect and kindness. I have known kazumi for over 10 years and have learned many things regarding the Japanese culture, including attending cultural outings and partaking in traditional Japanese meals Kazumi has taken the time to cook for me. She always takes the time to explain things carefully and concisely and if I have additional questions she is happy to elaborate or give a demonstration. She has even provided me with additional links with more information so that I can dive further into a topic if I so desire. If you are considering hiring kazumi to care, teach or guide you or your loved ones in any way, don’t hesitate. She is amazing!
I teach Japanese at WWU. Kazumi is one of the excellent tutors. She specifically understands what areas the student needs to work hard. She is also caring person, motivates each student’s passion of learning! If you like animals, I strongly recommend Kazumi! She loves animals too!
Kazumi is very responsible, caring and fun! I am working with her. She cares about everyone by reading his/her facial expressions or gestures intuitively and adjust her approaches. She would be a wonderful teacher for you.
Kazumi is a patient and encouraging language teacher and coach. I find that her fluency in English is as helpful to my learning as her native Japanese language proficiency. She is easy to learn with and makes conversation fun and interesting.
I would like to recommend Kazumi. Kazumi is very supportive, has a strong sense of responsibility, and is also very quick to respond. Therefore, I believe Kazumi is highly suitable for teaching students as a Japanese language teacher, and I am confident that the students' skills will definitely improve under her guidance.
