About Janella
Hello, my name is Janella, and I specialize in helping people find their voice — building the confidence, clarity, and presence that makes a lasting impression in any public speaking context.
I am a qualified Speech and Drama teacher and an experienced performer, currently teaching and coordinating programs across some of Perth’s leading private schools, including Guildford Grammar School, Penrhos College, and St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School. I also work with students privately outside of school hours.
I hold an AMEB Associate Diploma in Speech and Performance (Teaching), ORACY assessor qualifications, and a Bachelor of Arts (English and Literary Studies, Creative Writing) from UWA. My teaching combines technical skill development with genuine confidence-building, ensuring students feel equipped whether they’re addressing a classroom, competing in a public speaking event, or presenting in a professional setting.

My approach to public speaking coaching is structured, personal, and results-driven — and that’s why students thrive.
I don’t just put students in front of a microphone and hope for the best. I work closely with each student to identify what’s holding them back — whether that’s nerves, unclear delivery, lack of structure, or simply not knowing where to start — and build targeted strategies to overcome it. Lessons are tailored to the student’s age, experience, and specific goals.
After setting clear objectives, lessons may focus on:
• Vocal projection, diction, and clarity
• Speech structure, argumentation, and persuasive technique
• Managing nerves and building stage confidence
• Eye contact, body language, and physical presence
• Impromptu and prepared speaking practice
• Debating, presentations, and competition preparation (where relevant)
Lessons are practical, encouraging, and focused on transferable skills that benefit students in every area of life — from school assessments to job interviews and beyond. Sessions are available in person or online (1–2 hours) and are suitable for students from Year 4 to Year 12, as well as adults seeking to improve their leadership and professional communication.

Janella completely transformed my ATAR English experience. Going into Year 12 I was stressed and had no real direction with my exams, but from the very first session Janella sat down with me, figured out exactly where my weaknesses were, and built a personalised strategy around my specific goals. I honestly learnt more in a single session with her than I had across my entire Year 12 year at school.
I'd had other tutors before Janella, and the difference is night and day. Most of them would just hand me past papers, mark them, and send me on my way — which never actually helped me improve. Janella doesn't do that. She focuses on building your weaknesses from the ground up so that when exam day comes, you're genuinely prepared rather than just practised.
