About Damilola

Hey there! I'm your go-to Afro professional dancer and dance tutor, bringing the beat of Nigerian Afro dance, amapiano, and hip hop to life! Picture this: vibrant rhythms, infectious energy, and moves that make you want to groove. Growing up immersed in the colorful world of Nigerian dance, I fell head over heels for the rhythm and spirit it embodies. From the heart-pounding beats of amapiano to the soulful vibes of hip hop, I've soaked up every dance style like a sponge. Now, as a dance tutor, I'm all about spreading the love for Afro dance and helping others find their groove. My classes are more than just steps—they're a celebration of culture, community, and pure joy. Whether you're a newbie or a seasoned dancer, I'm here to cheer you on, break down those moves, and make sure you have a blast along the way. So, if you're ready to shimmy, shake, and strut your stuff, let's hit the dance floor together and make some unforgettable memories!

About the lesson

Welcome to our Afro Dance Adventure! Get ready for an exhilarating journey through the pulsating rhythms and dynamic movements of Afro dance. In this class, we'll explore the rich cultural heritage of Nigerian Afro dance, along with elements of amapiano and hip hop, creating a fusion that's guaranteed to get you moving and grooving. Here's what's in store for our session: 1. Introduction to Afro Dance: We'll kick things off by delving into the essence of Afro dance, learning about its roots, influences, and the stories it tells through movement. Prepare to immerse yourself in the infectious energy of Afro beats! 2. Warm-up: Let's get those bodies ready to dance! We'll start with a dynamic warm-up, incorporating stretches and exercises to loosen up your muscles and get your blood pumping. 3. Foundational Steps: Building on the fundamentals of Afro dance, we'll explore signature steps and techniques that define the style. From traditional Nigerian moves to contemporary twists, you'll learn how to groove with authenticity and flair. 4. Choreography: Get ready to put your newfound skills into action! We'll break down a lively Afro-inspired choreography, layering in elements of amapiano and hip hop to create a dynamic routine that's as fun to learn as it is to perform. 5. Freestyle Session: Time to unleash your creativity! We'll crank up the music and give you the chance to freestyle, experimenting with different rhythms and movements while expressing your own unique style. 6. Cool Down and Reflection: After all that excitement, it's important to cool down and reflect on our journey. We'll wind down with some gentle stretches and take a moment to appreciate the progress we've made and the joy of dancing together. Get ready to sweat, smile, and shimmy your way through an unforgettable Afro Dance Adventure! Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a total beginner, this class is all about embracing the music, embracing the culture, and embracing the joy of movement. Let's dance!
