About Elliot
Hi! I'm Elliot, a Molecular and Cell Biology student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison with three years of professional math tutoring experience. I have worked as a high school math tutor in the Madison Metropolitan School District, helping students in Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, and Precalculus. Alongside my biology degree, I have completed extensive university-level coursework in mathematics and physics, giving me a strong foundation in both the practical and theoretical aspects of STEM.
My passion for tutoring began long before it became a job. When I was nine years old, I started helping my younger sister with math at our kitchen table. As I continued tutoring my siblings over the years, I realized that every student learns differently. What worked for one person didn't always work for another, so I learned to adapt my explanations using visual models, real-world examples, and different problem-solving strategies until the concepts truly made sense.
Beyond tutoring, I have spent three summers as a camp counselor, mentoring children ages 5–15, and have served as a classroom assistant in K5, 1st grade, and 7th grade classrooms. These experiences have strengthened my ability to connect with students of all ages, build positive relationships, and create a supportive learning environment.
Whether a student needs help catching up, preparing for an exam, or pushing themselves to the next level, my goal is always the same: to help them develop confidence, independence, and a genuine understanding of the material—not just memorize procedures to get through the next test.

My lessons are always tailored to the individual student. Whether that means reteaching classroom material using a different approach, creating targeted practice problems that reinforce concepts while extending students' skills, or working through homework assignments and test reviews to build confidence and preparedness, each lesson is designed around what will help that student succeed.
Two overarching principles guide my teaching: progressive autonomy and conceptual connections. I will gladly walk students through each step of a problem-solving process, but my goal is for them to become increasingly independent. We do not move on until they are comfortable applying concepts and solving problems on their own.
I also believe that lasting understanding comes from recognizing how ideas connect. Rather than treating each topic as an isolated unit, I help students build a strong foundation so that new material feels like a natural extension of what they already know. By emphasizing these connections, students develop a deeper understanding that extends beyond memorization and prepares them for more advanced coursework.
My lessons are well-suited for 1st-12th grade, particularly those looking to strengthen their understanding, improve their confidence, or challenge themselves beyond the classroom curriculum. Whether a student is catching up, preparing for an exam, or striving for top performance, I adapt my teaching style and lesson structure to meet their individual goals.

Elliot is warm, approachable, and explains things in a way that will make sense to your child. He builds relationships easily and can convince even the most hesitant student to put forth their best effort. I'd highly recommend him.
I've known Elliot his entire life, and I couldn't speak more highly of him. He's kind, easy to connect with, and has a natural way of putting people at ease — which makes him a fantastic math tutor. He's extremely bright and talented, but what really sets him apart is how generous and driven he is; he genuinely cares about helping others succeed, not just getting through the material. I recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking for a tutor who's patient, sharp, and invested in their students.
If anyone is looking for an exceptional math tutor, I can’t recommend Elliot enough.
He’s honestly one of the smartest people I’ve ever met—valedictorian of his high school class, now double majoring in Cellular & Molecular Biology and Mathematics with a perfect GPA. But what makes him such an incredible tutor isn’t just how brilliant he is.
Elliot is patient, kind, funny, and has an amazing ability to explain difficult concepts in a way that actually clicks. He breaks complex math down into simple, manageable steps, and somehow makes it all feel less intimidating.
He’s been helping both of my kids with math for years, across different grade levels—even tutoring one who was older than he was! Their grades improved, but more importantly, their confidence skyrocketed. The part that still amazes me? They looked forward to their tutoring sessions.
Finding someone who’s both incredibly smart and an excellent teacher is rare. If your child could use help with math, I truly don’t think you’ll find anyone better.
Think it’s impossible for a kid to enjoy math tutoring? Give Elliot a try.I can't say enough good things about Elliot. From the very beginning, he made learning feel less stressful and much more enjoyable. He is incredibly smart, but what really stands out is how patient, kind, and understanding he is. He has a gift for explaining things in a way that truly clicks, and he never makes anyone feel rushed or discouraged.
Elliot genuinely cares about the students he works with and celebrates their successes right alongside them. He builds confidence, encourages questions, and always creates a positive, supportive environment. It's clear that he wants every student to succeed, and that shows in everything he does.
We feel so fortunate to have found Elliot. He has made a real difference, and I would recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking for a tutor who is not only knowledgeable but also compassionate, encouraging, and invested in helping students reach their full potential.I’ve known Elliot for most of his life. Elliot is a thoughtful, intelligent, and well spoken tutor. He’s a summer camp counselor and a premed student, and it is obvious why he excels in both. He speaks well and knows how to meet a kid where they are. He is very, very smart, and knows how to communicate it. I would absolutely put trust in him as a tutor
I know Elliot as a camp counselor and student. He is patient, kind, caring and really smart. Part of his appeal as a counselor is his sense of humor. I highly recommend Elliot as a tutor. You will not regret it.
Elliot is incredibly patient, kind, and explains concepts in a way that’s easy to understand. He’s knowledgeable in math and takes the time to make sure you actually learn the material instead of just memorizing it. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for extra help!
Elliot has tutored my children across many levels of mathematics. He has tutored them from elementary age through high school. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and accessible. I would highly recommend him to any age—elementary school through high school!
