About Calliope
I had my CESS (secondary school degree) and I am currently in Master 2 studying multidisciplinary translation at the FTI-EII (UMons). I started learning English by myself from the age of 8, and then received a professional education from the age of 10 until now. I also did an internship in English at SHAPE during 8 weeks in 2019 and have a C1-C2 level (almost bilingual).
Besides giving lessons to my students and helping them pass their exams, I also helped my younger sister; she learned English through me as soon as I started learning it in class. During the weekends, I would give her class the same way I had had during the week, which made her want to learn too and, despite being younger than me, she is now almost at the same level as I am. I have always had good grades in English (never less than a 15/20 in secondary school, average grade of 16 in Master 1) and I also helped a lot of friends by teaching them grammar and the correct pronunciation of words in English. They went from having grades around 6/20 to 10-12 / 20 (university level) thanks to a few hours of going through the lesson together during our breaks! :)

Hi! :) I know from experience that it's important to adapt to the needs of each person. I work according to the person sitting with me and their needs by:
- giving tips on how to memorize specific words or grammar rules for those who have a hard time doing so, but also creating little flash cards that are easier to study,
- doing repetition games to improve pronunciation,
- using spelling tests and easy songs to improve listening comprehension,
- etc.
Most importantly, I start off by going through the lessons with you to see where the problems lie and understand how to make sure you will improve yourself quickly but mostly on the long term. I can also proofread works, point out mistakes and help people improve their written skills. If you have a hard time understanding grammar and some vocab, I can also make flash cards to help you study more easily. I'll also prepare exercises according to what the person needs.
My work is based on what I know as well as on books I've used during my high school and university years. I also use a few trusted websites to plan my theory and exercises.
This is how a typical "class" happens:
- questions from the student regarding our last class together;
- questions from me regarding the theory to see if the student actually studied what we learned together;
- new theory is given if needed;
- if not, we immediately go through the exercises where I focus on the child's issues. They do the exercises with me (I ask them how they decided that there would be an "s", for example) and I correct them if they are wrong;
- questions about what has been learned on that day.

I started giving class in 2018 and, since I have a university level of C1/C2, I offer my classes for 105€/hour. The prices may be adjusted if the person needs less time (e.g. 22€ for 1 hours and a half), and I can offer discounts if we decide to work on a weekly basis. I will ask for additional fees if I have to travel more than 15 km/10 miles. :)
/!\ Payment must be done right after the class, no bank transfer allowed.
/!\ I work during the week and my Saturdays afternoon are already taken by a weekly student.
