About Yara
I am a first-year student at Tufts University studying International Relations.
In high school, I completed the International Baccalaureate (IB), taking Higher Level Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (Math AA HL) alongside other challenging courses. This experience strengthened my mathematical skills and taught me how to explain concepts clearly.
As the eldest of three daughters, I have grown up helping and supporting others. This has helped me develop patience, compassion, and the ability to adapt my explanations to different needs and learning styles. Additionally, I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and build confidence in their abilities.
Outside of school, I love traveling and spending time with friends and family. I am passionate about helping others, and tutoring is a great opportunity for me to share my knowledge and help students reach their full potential.

I have lots of experience tutoring, having worked with students between the ages of 5 and 15. Each of these students had different way of learning, something I was able to adapt to. Thus, I think my ability to adapt to the needs and age of the tutee sets me apart. I am also very patient with those I tutor, which likely comes from my experience tutoring my younger sisters as well as other young children.
The lessons are directed towards elementary, middle, and high school students in need of help with math skills, particularly in the areas of arithmetic, algebra, pre-calc. If a student needs help in a different area of math, please let me know beforehand.
I like to have students try problems and then identify where they went wrong; this helps me hone in on the specific skills they need to work on. I also find it useful to go through previous homework assignments and tests to see what concepts the student is struggling with. With this, I am able to explain such concepts and help the student through practice problems that allow them to grasp the subject at hand.
In a typical lesson, we will go through anything that wasn't understood in class and review mistakes from previous homework assignments/tests as well as upcoming homework assignments. The goal of this is to make sure the student understands what was taught in school and understand the steps for solving different problem types. I will also help explain any topics the student is struggling with and will walk them through practice problems to ensure they understand what was explained.
