• When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I was always passionate and interested in sharing my knowledge with others during my school life and felt very grateful when my classmates excelled well. I guess such enthusiasm motivated me to continue tutoring other students.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I am open to help any area and level of high school maths. If I have to pick one that interested me the most when I was in high school, it would be calculus and inductive proof, but maths in general fascinates my intellectual curiosity.

• Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  I did not have a particular role model, but I always tried to be exposed to a variety of mathematicians from many different sources, including youtube and school. Learning math from many perspectives definitely allowed me to grasp the core concepts of maths.

• What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  Of course, you have to be on top of whatever you are tutoring in terms of the contents, but the main factor that distinguishes a 'good' tutor would be the sincerity and enjoyment that you genuinely carry when you interact with your students.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  I have personally realized the beauty of mathematics to a great degree during my work of I.B Extended Essay on Mathematics, where I wrote about the reliability of the chess rating system.

• What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

  Facing the complex problem and being able to decompose it into bits of easier problems was what I struggled and still struggle with, as it involves a profound level of critical thinking and understanding of the content.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  My ultimate goal is to leave a legacy that would positively influence others, whether it is by tutoring students to help them excel in their understanding of maths or contributing to society with what I have learnt from my degree.

• What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions)?

  Genuinely wanting students to succeed :)
