About Shino
Konnichiwa! I’m Shino, a native Japanese teacher living in Okinawa, Japan. I also hold a teaching license in Japan.
Maybe you’re already learning Japanese with a textbook, at school or university, through apps or YouTube, or while preparing for the JLPT.
You probably know more Japanese than you think.
So now, let’s actually use it!

This isn’t a lesson where I talk the whole time and you just listen.
Work, school, travel, hobbies, friends, something that happened this week...

As we talk, you’ll have moments like:
“Ah! So this is when I can use that grammar!”

“Oh, so this is how a Japanese person would say it!”
Can’t find the Japanese for something you want to say?
That’s okay. That’s where we discover new Japanese together.
■ We don’t just talk and forget
New vocabulary, natural expressions, and things you had trouble saying are added to a shared Google Doc.
You can go back to it anytime after the lesson and review what you learned.
Talk → discover → review → use it again.
You’re not only using the Japanese you already know — you’re adding new Japanese every time we talk.
■ Lessons adapted to you
I mainly teach lower-intermediate to advanced learners, with conversation at the center of our lessons.
Rather than using the same curriculum for everyone, I adapt each lesson to what you’re currently studying and what you want to be able to do in Japanese.
Depending on your goals, we can also work on:
・Using grammar you’ve studied in real conversations
・Natural Japanese expressions and vocabulary
・Textbooks
・Discussions using articles
・Writing
・Keigo (polite and honorific Japanese)
・Interview preparation
