About Jessica
I am an experienced educator with a strong background in English and special education, and I am currently completing my Master of Science in Special Education. I have worked in a variety of educational settings, including public schools, specialized classrooms, and community-based programs, supporting students with diverse academic and social-emotional needs. My experience includes implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), providing one-on-one and small group instruction, and using evidence-based strategies to support student growth. I bring both academic knowledge and real-world classroom experience into every tutoring session.
In addition to my professional experience, I am also a parent of two children with special needs. This personal experience deeply shapes my approach as a tutor. I understand firsthand the challenges that can come with learning differences, as well as the importance of patience, advocacy, and individualized support. Because of this, I am able to connect with students and families in a compassionate, understanding, and practical way.
I pride myself on being reliable, organized, and attentive to each student’s unique needs. I prioritize clear communication and consistency, and I work hard to create a safe and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable and confident. My goal is not only to support academic growth, but also to help students build confidence, independence, and a positive relationship with learning.

As a tutor, Jessica focuses on creating a supportive, structured, and individualized learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and asking questions. Her teaching approach is rooted in patience, encouragement, and adaptability. Drawing from her background in special education, she uses evidence-based strategies such as scaffolding, modeling, and multi-sensory instruction to meet each student where they are. Jessica understands that every learner is different, so she adjusts her methods to match each student’s pace, strengths, and learning style, whether that means breaking concepts down step-by-step or using visual and real-life examples to build understanding.
A typical lesson with Jessica begins with a quick check-in and review of previously learned material to reinforce retention and confidence. She then introduces new concepts in a clear, manageable way, often using guided practice before moving into independent work. Throughout the lesson, she provides immediate, constructive feedback and incorporates strategies to build both academic skills and self-confidence. Lessons often end with a brief summary and a plan for continued practice, ensuring students leave feeling successful and prepared.
What sets Jessica apart is her strong background in working with diverse learners, including students with ADHD, autism, and other learning differences. She not only teaches academic content but also focuses on building executive functioning skills, emotional regulation, and confidence. Her experience with individualized education programs (IEPs) allows her to provide targeted support that goes beyond traditional tutoring. Jessica creates a safe and encouraging space where students feel understood and capable.
Jessica’s lessons are designed for a wide range of learners, including elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as college students who need support in reading, writing, and study skills. She is especially well-suited for students who struggle with traditional learning environments, need extra support, or benefit from a more personalized and flexible approach. Whether a student is working to catch up, keep up, or get ahead, Jessica provides the tools and support they need to succeed.
