About Carlos
Carlos is a Colombian interdisciplinary performance artist. His art reflects the exploration of themes around the idea of home, cultural displacement, the perception of our surroundings, and how one constructs a memory of a space. Carlos strives to make his art relevant to current social issues of identity. It examines the lives of people who have fled their homelands to escape persecution, conflict, or other situations that endanger their lives, freedom, or livelihood, only to find themselves in permanent limbo in a foreign life. Art, for him, is a crucial tool for raising awareness of those topics and making them accessible to a larger audience. His performances are inclusive and immersive experiences.

My classes are based on a self-exploration of ideas coming from the participants of the class. I often introduce references from art history, present the media material we work on in the class, and guide you through your own vision of what you see and how you explore the technique to find your own voice in a piece you are making.
