About Katarina

I have been teaching for 20 years now. Throughout the years of teaching, I have become organized, structured, and purposeful in my lessons. I want my students to love learning, but I also know that some discomfort while learning is key to improving. Many students I have taught in the past have had different struggles, but they quickly learned that with consistency anything is possible! This is my favorite part about teaching - instilling confidence in my learners!

About the lesson

Depending on the subject, at the beginning of the class I like to include some conversation about current topics. Sometimes that includes watching a video or reading an article. This allows students to share what they know, or learn about the outside world and deepen their understanding of how the content we learn is connected to our curriculum. Next, the lesson would have a worksheet with a few steps:
1. sample (for reference),
2. example (we do together),
3. example (student does on their own, but teacher reviews on the spot),
4. and then a few examples (student does independently).
The goal of each class is to ensure that the student has had a chance to ask questions so that the content is clear. Furthermore, by doing this, I can gauge how much of the content is mastered by the student.
