About Samira
I am a graduate student in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Computational Science and Engineering (CSE). My research interest lies at the intersection of computer science, applied mathematics and engineering. Teaching inspires me and I want to dedicate my career to working with students with diverse backgrounds and help them to grow in their life and their careers.

I worked with many students with diverse cultural and demographic backgrounds including international students, minorities and first-generation college students, as well as students with disabilities. Through these experiences I have come to realize that the best strategy for teaching computer science is by integrating concepts with projects and homework problems from different science and engineering domains. In all my courses, I strive to design clear lectures as well as engaging homework sets and projects that apply computational algorithms to different problems that arise in signal processing, physics, biology, etc. I believe interesting homework projects offer a great opportunity to help students better understand the concepts and effectively improve their engagement with the course.
