About Carline

I am an undergraduate student at the University of Washington pursuing a career in biochemistry. In my free time, I am an avid distance runner and baker. I enjoy doing freelance 3D sculpting and texturing work, as it allows me to employ both my math and art skills into a single medium. Before I moved to Seattle to attend University, I worked as a birthday party hostess for Skyzone trampoline park while doing the dual credit running start program in high school.
I am passionate about teaching and inspiring others to enjoy math -- because once you understand the core principles and the inner workings, mathematics is truly like poetry.

About the lesson

- My teaching method involves building knowledge from the foundation up. I ensure each student understands not only what they need to do, but the theories and reasons behind why the process works. This allows for better retention and overall understanding.
- A typical lesson plan consists of an introduction to the topic at hand, conveying a detailed understanding of why it is relevant, practice problems, and a real-world application. I am also a big advocate of accepting mistakes and failure as a part of the learning process. It is important to struggle through problems in order to properly train the brain on how to solve them.
- The lessons are for anyone who needs help with mathematics ranging from algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, and calculus. I work wonderfully with all age ranges.
