About Kathy
I have been giving lessons for two terms as well as being involved in a homework club with a group of primary school aged children. I have tutored students in grade 1, 2, and 3.
In the homework club I tutored and assisted up to 8 students in their learning however there were other tutors present as well.

In my teaching method of tutoring English, I want to make the learning of the subject as interesting as I can. To help me to do this, I choose texts that would appeal to the student and challenge the student a little in their reading so that they can learn new words.
I integrate other subjects in the learning of English especially topics that are related to sustainability, ethics, some science topics. I incorporate a lot of phonics for the younger students drawing on the work of a practicing primary school teacher from the homework club that I tutored at. Her work is interesting and looks fun for students as it has a lot of illustrations in her work books.
I like to use visual learning platforms such as Utube to explain concepts in English. I also like to make the learning of English fun and humorous by adding in a riddle from time to time. I ask the student to write about the texts that they have been learning about, or to write in sentences perhaps new vocabulary that they have learnt.
