About Mia
With over 8 years of experience teaching guitar both in-person and online, I bring a passion for contemporary styles and creative expression to every lesson. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance, where I focused on compositional techniques and arranging specifically for guitar. My teaching philosophy centers on helping students develop their own original music through a deep understanding of harmony, melodic invention, and counterpoint. I tailor each lesson to fit individual goals, whether you’re just starting out or already an advanced player aiming to compose and arrange professionally. I also guide students in recording basic demos, giving them tools to bring their music to life. Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of learners—from beginners discovering the guitar for the first time to expert composers refining their craft. My approach balances technical skill with creative exploration, making learning both structured and inspiring. Together, we’ll unlock your musical voice and develop your skills in composition and performance. If you’re ready to dive into the joy of creating your own guitar music, I warmly invite you to join me on this exciting journey.

My teaching approach focuses on building strong music reading skills for guitarists of all levels. I guide students through understanding both tablature and standard notation, helping them become confident in reading rhythm and pitch. Sight-reading exercises are an essential part of my lessons, designed to improve fluency and accuracy in any musical context.
I use a systematic method that breaks down complex rhythms and notes into manageable steps. This approach helps students progress steadily while keeping lessons engaging and clear. I’m especially skilled at supporting players who want to master classical pieces or explore jazz improvisation through written music.
Together, we’ll unlock the world of written music, opening up new opportunities for performance and creativity. My goal is to help you read music naturally, so it becomes a powerful tool in your guitar journey. Whether you’re diving into classical repertoire or jazz charts, I’ll ensure you develop strong, confident reading skills. Let’s make music reading a rewarding and exciting part of your growth as a guitarist.
