About Dan
Hey everyone! I'm very excited to begin a mentoring/tutoring relationship with you! I have been deeply involved in mentoring and tutoring throughout my time in high school, undergrad, and now my PhD program! I have tutored recent immigrants/refugees in St. Louis in English and math, served as a 4th grade teacher one summer in San Francisco, and mentored a bunch of students on scholarship essays/college applications. I find it extremely important to connect my students' needs/life experiences to the material I teach.
When working on writing/English, I emphasize the iterative process of writing and revising. It is critical for my students to learn that your writing can always improve. Through this, I am able to show my students how to develop a growth mindset about their writing abilities and how to apply it to other areas of life.
