About Josh
My GCSE, A levels, and experience in further education have been characterised by a love of the humanities, I have just achieved a certificate of higher education at the University of Cambridge in the 'arts and humanities' and now have moved onto a bachelors degree in History at the same institution. My goal is to display to students their capability in the subject as well as essay writing in general, not to be prescriptive and rigid but instead to allow their ideas to dictate where their writing goes. This form of lateral thinking achieves high marks at a GCSE level.

Students in my lessons will be tested to see what they already think, I will act as a guide to understand and help students develop their existing thoughts on a text but also on wider themes that will be found in these texts. Exam readiness will be achieved by helping students use literary devices to amplify their own ideas in an essay. I study History at an undergraduate level at the university of Cambridge. Through this rigorous academic environment I am well placed to provide commentary on essays and general development of writing skills. I can suggest effective revision techniques as well as helping students to understand difficult and challenging texts by breaking them down. Through lessons my goal is to display that a student has all the things they need to achieve an excellent grade, it is through the honing of ideas and writing skills that this is possible, and this is what I can help with.
