About Thapelo
I'm a DPhil at Oxford working on optical physics, and an engineer by training from Imperial. But what matters more is that I've tutored maths and physics for years, and I keep seeing the same thing: capable students taught to follow recipes, then stuck the moment a problem looks unfamiliar. That's the gap I care about. I teach because the ideas in maths and science are worth understanding properly, as ways of thinking rather than exam hurdles, and most people never get shown that version.

How to think as opposed to what to think.
The focus is on the core ideas in maths and science: where they come from, how they connect, and how to reason through problems haven't seen before rather than pattern-matching to ones already known. The aim isn't to get students through the next exam (though that follows), it's to give them the way of thinking that university assumes they already have and rarely teaches directly.
