About Jacob

With degrees in Economics and Psychology from The University of Chicago, I bring a unique interdisciplinary approach to math tutoring. My background enables me to explain complex concepts clearly and relate them to real-world applications, making math feel both practical and accessible. I understand that each student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to fit your individual needs, focusing on patience, clarity, and building confidence.

In each lesson, I create a supportive, judgment-free space where you’re encouraged to ask questions and explore new ways of thinking. Whether you’re working on algebra, geometry, or advanced calculus, I’m here to guide you. My goal is to help you not only improve your grades but also feel empowered in your understanding of math.

About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach is rooted in fostering a deep understanding of concepts through personalized guidance and interactive problem-solving. I believe in making math relatable by connecting abstract ideas to real-world applications, which helps students see the "why" behind each step. My teaching methods are patient, clear, and tailored to the unique needs and learning pace of each student.

A typical lesson plan with me starts with a review of the previous session’s concepts to ensure retention. Then, we introduce a new topic with an engaging example before diving into step-by-step practice problems. I emphasize active learning, encouraging students to explain their thought process as we go, which solidifies their understanding and builds confidence.

What sets me apart is my commitment to making math enjoyable and accessible. I understand that math can be challenging, so I aim to create a supportive, judgment-free space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

My lessons are for middle school to college students, covering everything from algebra and geometry to calculus. Whether you're aiming to improve your grades or preparing for exams, I’m here to help you succeed!
