About Mara
Hello! I’m a violin educator with 7 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Violin Performance. I love combining classical discipline with modern musical creativity, helping students develop both technical skill and expressive artistry. My lessons focus on essential techniques such as bowing, vibrato, phrasing, and musical interpretation across a variety of genres.
I provide guidance for exam readiness, supporting students through structured preparation and performance strategies. For those interested in ensemble playing, I offer orchestral mentorship, helping learners understand their role within a group and develop strong musical collaboration skills. I tailor lessons to each student’s goals, whether it’s mastering repertoire, improving technique, or exploring personal expression.
My approach balances structured practice with creative exploration, ensuring lessons are engaging and rewarding. I encourage students to build confidence, develop healthy practice habits, and enjoy the journey of learning the violin. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced player, I provide the tools and support to help you grow as a musician.
I look forward to guiding you in discovering your own musical voice and achieving your violin goals.

My teaching approach focuses on developing physical awareness, mental focus, and musical flow. I guide students to connect their breath with their playing, creating a natural and relaxed sound. Left-hand technique is emphasized for ease and comfort, while smooth bowing helps produce a seamless tone. I encourage students to visualize music patterns, making complex passages easier to understand and remember.
Lessons are designed to build healthy practice habits that prevent strain and promote long-term progress. I create a supportive environment where learners feel safe to explore, make mistakes, and grow. Emotional safety and physical ease are priorities, helping students stay confident and focused. Imaginative learning is encouraged, allowing musical ideas to come to life naturally.
I work closely with students on goal-setting, ensuring each practice session has purpose and direction. Mental focus and concentration are nurtured alongside technical skill. I adapt my guidance to individual needs, helping every student progress at their own pace. My aim is to make every lesson rewarding, enjoyable, and inspiring.
