About Joey
I'm a young contemporary artist originally from Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, born in 2000 and raised in the town of Cradock. In 2018, I graduated from Cradock High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Visual and Performing Arts Honors (NQF8) from Nelson Mandela University, and now call Cape Town my home. My artistic journey is fueled by a passion for exploring the intersection of therapeutic and contemporary art, particularly in addressing anxiety through creative expression. I'm currently pursuing a PGCE degree at Stadio. Throughout my university years, I've been fortunate to exhibit in three local group exhibitions, sharing my art and engaging with fellow creators. As a three-time participant and top 100 emerging artist in the esteemed Sasol New Signatures competition, I'm thrilled to contribute to South Africa's vibrant art scene and share my perspective with a broader audience.

I highly recommend my sister as an online art tutor. She is incredibly talented and knowledgeable in her field and also has a natural gift for teaching. Her friendly and patient demeanor makes her especially effective with children, ensuring that each student feels comfortable and supported. She is adept at answering questions and is always understanding, creating a nurturing learning environment. Her passion for art and dedication to her students truly set her apart.
Joey is super knowledgeable in the areas of art and design. Personally, i took ceramics, sculpture and painting lessons, and I am beyond impressed at how well she gets information across and yields good results. Its been an upward journey since our first lesson and i have zero regrets. Joey is versatile and can host both in-person and online lessons, which is super convenient. If you’re looking to learn a new skill for pleasure or to go professional, this is the best person to start learning from. A 5 star experience is what you’ll walk away with. What makes Joey an even greater teacher, is she adapts to your level and doesn’t leave you behind.
Highly recommend Joey as she is engaging and supportive. She is patient and always willing to go the extra miles.
