About Hector
Hi, my name is Coach Hector, and I’ve been coaching basketball for nearly 20 years. Over that time, I’ve worked with players from the elementary level all the way to high school and national club teams. I’m proud to say I’ve helped many athletes reach their full potential, with several going on to compete at the collegiate level. As a certified coach in the state of Florida and with USA Basketball, I bring not only experience but also a professional standard of training and mentorship. My focus is on developing your skills, teaching the game at a high level, and preparing you to succeed both on and off the court. When you work with me, you can expect personalized attention, proven methods like film study and read-and-react training, and guidance on mechanics, conditioning, and even nutrition. 1. Film Study & Breakdown Teach athletes how to analyze game film to recognize patterns, strengths, and areas of improvement. Walk players through: Individual breakdowns: Footwork, shot mechanics, decision-making. Team concepts: Defensive rotations, spacing, transition play. Encourage athletes to self-assess and take ownership of improvement. Making the right pass or scoring move based on defensive adjustments. 2. Mechanics & Fundamentals Refine technical skills in shooting, dribbling, passing, and footwork. Emphasize proper body mechanics to prevent injury and increase efficiency. Use progressive drills that simulate game speed and pressure. 3. Recommended Training & Conditioning Strength & conditioning tailored for basketball: agility, explosiveness, core stability. Position-specific workouts (e.g., bigs working on post moves, guards on pick-and-roll reads). Endurance training for 4th-quarter performance. 4. Nutrition & Lifestyle Guidance Introduce athletes to performance-based nutrition: Balanced meals (lean protein, complex carbs, hydration strategies). Pre-game and post-game fueling routines. Discuss recovery essentials: rest, sleep, stretching, and injury prevention habits. 5. My Commitment to Athletes Development first: Every athlete receives personalized feedback and a growth plan.
