About Carla
While I do not have a teaching degree, I spent most of my middle school and high school years tutoring other kids below me through our school counseling program. I taught for 2 years at a private school, specifically 1st and 2nd grade math as well as 6th and 7th grade math. Math will always be a favorite of mine!

Math can be a tricky subject for many to learn. As math builds throughout the years, the gaps in learning become larger. I have a passion in helping others understand numbers so they don’t just see a number, but what the number means. For example instead of seeing 698 +73 and shutting down, using number sense to picture 698 as only 2 away from 700, you can learn to switch the problem in your mind so it becomes solvable. 700 + 71 is much easier to solve than 698 + 73! Math needs to be visual and hands-on in order to comprehend.
