About Annemarie
I’m a Yale graduate and lifelong writer with a background spanning humanities, social sciences, advertising, and film. I’ve spent 10+ years writing copy for major brands, from shaping brand voice to turning complex ideas into clear, compelling language. I also write creative screenplays, including award-winning short films.
I love helping people become sharper, more confident writers. Whether you’re working on your first academic essay, preparing for a standardized test, polishing a résumé, or learning how to write professionally, I bring both an academic foundation and real-world writing experience to every lesson. My goal is to help you develop a voice and set of skills that serve you long after the assignment is finished.

MY TEACHING STYLE: Personalized, practical, and feedback-driven. We start by identifying exactly what you want to work on: strengthening an area where you’re already strong, improving a weakness, or preparing for a specific assignment, test, application, or writing project.
HOW WE WORK: We’ll work directly with your writing, using actionable feedback to improve what needs work while identifying and building on what you already do well. The goal is to develop your instincts as a writer, not simply make one essay better.
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM: Strong writing is a career skill. The same principles that make an excellent essay, college application, or résumé also make an excellent professional writer: clear thinking, compelling structure, precise language, strong voice, and understanding your audience. I bring 10+ years of professional copywriting for major brands and experience writing award-winning creative film scripts, so I teach students how those skills translate beyond school and into real-world writing.
WHO I TEACH: Middle and high school students, college students, and adults seeking support with English, essays, creative writing, reading comprehension, SAT/ACT preparation, college applications, résumés, or professional writing.
