About Joan
Clear pronunciation feels like a crisp mountain stream hitting the ears during our initial sessions. My teaching character blends strict attention to verb conjugation with an encouraging focus on cultural context for adults and kids alike. 385 students have participated in my classes over 6 years of professional coaching. Writing skills and listening practice receive equal weight alongside the essential everyday phrases for beginners.
I hold a BMus degree from the Curtis Institute of Music which taught me the value of structured repetition. Expect a disciplined environment that prioritizes steady improvement over shortcuts.

Learning a new language starts with the philosophy that precision is the gateway to freedom. You will navigate the intricacies of French idioms and expressions with my direct guidance throughout every interaction. Conversational fluency is the target for the travellers and hobbyists I often assist during my weekly schedule. 6 years of experience informs how I select the most relevant vocabulary for your specific goals.
You receive a homework module with feedback after every class to solidify what we covered together. This systematic approach ensures you retain the nuances of accent and intonation long after our time ends. My training from the Curtis Institute of Music allows me to hear your mistakes as clearly as I would hear a wrong note in a symphony.
I find immense satisfaction in watching students gain mastery over the language. Let us get to work on your next lesson.
