About Sofiia

While my lessons I will provide you with respect, feedback, support and impressive time.
Hello, I Am Sofiia, an advanced belly dancer and tutor in Regina, Saskatchewan.
At the beginning of my way, I was interested in Ukrainian national dances and I was part of the dance club for 10 years.
Suddenly, I saw the beauty of oriental dancing at the performance at the festival and I fell in love with this style at the first sight. Consequently, I started my fruitful and bright belly dance career. I live belly dancing and I am constantly trying to improve my skills and get some inspiration. Tutoring students requires a lot of advanced knowledge and plenty of enthusiasm and encouragement, that I continuously draw from diverse sources- I have taken an infinity amount of world-famous stars' workshops and lessons
Another immense part of belly dancing is performing. I adore appearing on stage and getting those unforgettable emotions from the audience. I am well-experienced in performing and ready to share tips with my students. This crucial skill is going to be very helpful for both competitions and dancing just for joy. Having this proficiency I won a lot of international and Ukrainian competitions.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any diplomas or medals with me, because the Russian invasion caught everybody by surprise. The war interrupted our usual life with routine classes and a schedule of competitions. I had my last class on 23, February and was preparing for a performance at the international competition in Kyiv on 26, February, then in Moldova and Spain. I visited these countries later but, unluckily, as a refugee not as a dancer.
Now I am happy to continue my dancing in Regina and offer you online lessons and various workshops. I can open to you a world of belly dancing just at the first class!

About the lesson

Plan:
Dancer Warm Up - not only is important to avoid injuries but also prepares you mentally - you will start leaving their daily worries behind and get in the mood for dancing (including dance movements that remind of belly dance moves, such as hip circles or stretching the hips from side to side - head rolls, followed by shoulder rolls, hip circles, wrist and ankle circles, and anything that mobilizes the joints.
Main part - choreography, listening to music, translation of songs for better understanding and feeling it in dancing; teaching and answering your questions; improving technique; giving some tips about performances - emotions, behaviour, make up and using space.
Cooling down and stretching at the end of the dance class are equally important to avoid injuries. At the end of the class you can hold stretches for longer, about 30 seconds, as the muscles will be warmer.
I offer lessons for first time dancers, beginners, intermediate and advanced.

Hi I met Sofia when she first came to Canada this year. A family I know contacted me to see if I had a job available for her mom Olena. When I first met them they blew me away honestly. Sofia is so eager to learn and continue her dancing and to do her best at everything. I’ve been lucky to spend a lot of time with sofia. She’s a very mature, smart , eager, nice . she has a great respect for people no matter if they’re young or old. She would be a fantastic dance teacher. When she talks to me about her dancing her eyes light up I can tell that’s her passion. She’s on time and communicates well with anyone she’s a very strong independent young woman. She’s shown me her independence many times. I see the obstacles they have to endure everyday with the war back home and her dad Fighting in it. I know if you give her the opportunity to be a belly dance teacher she will be an amazing asset to your team. As well you will be making Sophie’s dreams to continue.
