About Sara
Hi! My name is Sara, and I'm currently a student at Carnegie Mellon University (I was also accepted to UC Berkeley + others for mathematics)! With many years of tutoring experience, I have instructed students from kindergarten to college level. Ever since I was younger, I have loved sharing my love for math with others. When I was in my freshman year of high school, I was hired at a math tutoring center called Mathnasium. I absolutely loved the environment and the feeling after a student understands a topic that they previously struggled on is what made me want to inspire more people to love learning. Like I always say, math is not just doing problems, it's being able to understand how the world works.

With many years of tutoring experience, not only in mathematics, but also in foreign language and English, I can say that I am capable and confident in my skills as an instructor. I'm a patient tutor that specializes in teaching mathematics, specifically from levels of elementary school to high school, including basic math, prealgebra, algebra, geometry, precalculus, and even calculus. A typical lesson plan would be starting with understanding what level the student is on, what the student has done in the past, and forming a lesson based on what the student lacks and needs. My tutoring style usually involves trying to get the student to understand the topic that they are on before moving on. In my experience, many students say that they understand when teachers explain to them, afraid to tell them that they did not understand the teacher's explanation. To address this issue, and what sets me apart from other tutors, I try to reinforce the concept until I know that the student has 100% understanding. At the end of a lesson, I would give students a small "assessment" of the topics that they tackled in the lesson, and give a summary of the lesson concepts, in order to make the content last in their head.

Perfect! Sara is a very patient tutor who answers my questions in a way that is simple and effective. She makes sure I am confident in the subject we're covering before moving onto the next theng, without making me feel badly for not yet fully grasping it.
