About Zeyuan

Let me start with a tragic childhood story.

My parents… couldn't cook. Like, really couldn't cook. Growing up, dinner was often an adventure nobody signed up for. But then there was my grandmother. She was the kind of cook who could open an empty fridge and still make magic happen.

So from primary school, I started following her around the kitchen like a tiny, hungry shadow. Not because I was ambitious — because I wanted to eat well. And slowly, I realised something: cooking doesn't have to be a big drama. You don't need fancy knives, expensive ingredients, or a degree in suffering. Sometimes, in 5 or 10 minutes, you can make something that actually tastes good. Like, really good.

That's why I want to teach.

I want to be the person who tells beginners: Hey, it's okay. You don't need to spend three hours on one dish or cry over a lumpy sauce. I've been there — burnt garlic, set off fire alarms, made a dish so bad even the dog walked away. And I still survived. So you definitely can be better than me.

I want to help different kinds of beginners — students, busy parents, takeaway addicts, people who think "salt" is just a suggestion — find their own little kitchen superpower. Whether it's a simple lesson or a weekend fun project with your kids, I've got you.

Because if a hungry primary school kid can learn to cook… so can you.

And no, we won't start with sweet & sour.

About the lesson

"Kitchen Hero Rescue" – Real Chinese Cooking for Beginners (and more!)

I'm a Culinary Arts MA graduate who's burned, stirred, and cooked my way through professional kitchens and culinary schools in Ireland, the UK, and China — and I'm here to rescue you from sad takeaways and sticky rice disasters.

This course is for total beginners who think sweet & sour chicken is authentic Chinese food (it's not, but this the only one you won‘t go wrong when you step in trying Chinese food), for families who want to cook together (in-person classes are perfect for messy fun with kids), and for anyone who just wants to learn basic cooking knowledge — online option available.

You tell me what you like (or what's lurking in your fridge), and we cook it: real Chinese home-style classics like tomato egg stir-fry, scallion oil noodles, and mild mapo tofu, plus other cuisines.
You bring your own ingredients and tools (special circumstances? just let me know ahead), and I'll bring the calm, non-judgmental energy, plus a few funny stories about my own kitchen fails.

The only people not welcome here are those who think a dishwasher can cook rice （it can but plz don’t try, just joking）— everyone, come join me and let's turn you from a delivery app addict into the chef your friends actually invite over.
